Twenty highly tuned boxer engines playing Indian tag on the freeway is enough to fill the soul with glee! On August 25th at 9am,
I load up the rest of my camping gear to head down to the Northwest's 8th annual Subaru Meet in Hood River Oregon. Caravanning with
several other Subaru tuners on the three-hour expedition down to the meet made the road trip seamlessly entertaining!
On the way down, we made a quick stop at Audio Immigrations, accumulating yet another group of caravanning Subie Tuners, including
a GT35'd 2006 STI, most likely the fastest tuner at the entire meet! After loading up on a couple of burgers each, everyone warmed up,
buckled down and finished the final stretch to complete our journey to the West Coast Subaru Show.
From mud swamping Subaru Brat's (the old school subies) to the highly tuned STI, all the newest technology in the tuner world
could be found under the many hoods stationed at the event, calm like bombs. The car count for the Saturday car show was in the 200 plus
range, and being as hot as it was, several fellow tuners and I made our way to a local watering hole to cool ourselves down from the
95 degree weather.
When we returned, it was time to enjoy the festivities! To the right of the campsite was a huge off road course consisting of
watered down mud. Only the true off-road fans dared to tear up the pit, half of which emerged with battle wounds on their cars -- but no
matter what happened, the experienced crowd took it on down.
Everyone attending the event exhibited a neighborly attitude; we are all there to help one another, something I've always
respected in the Subaru scene! Later in the afternoon, we all gathered in the mess hall to eat, then prayed to win the set of Prodrive wheels
being raffled off, followed by music and reminiscing!
It was difficult to not enjoy yourself at this event, and I look forward to attending the next West Coast Subaru Show! Hopefully,
I'll have my own car project more complete and ready to show by next year.
