What is one of the fastest growing motor-sport events right now? You may be thinking of Drift, but look out for Time Attack!
Originating in Japan, Time Attack, Super Lap and Tuner Battles were organized by the automotive media as a proving grounds to show the differences between the various street-tuned cars produced by the industry's most respected tuners.
Tuners battle against the clock to prove the performance of their cars in power, handling and aerodynamics, plus showcasing the skill of their drivers. The team that pulls off the quickest time earns the bragging rights in Time Attack.
We here at Carster are new to Time Attack, but headed out to Buttonwillow Raceway this week to see what all the fuss is about. Just a couple of hours outside of Los Angeles, tuners gathered from all over the nation for the West Coast Finals of the Super Street Time Attack. From all the new faces I saw and talking to the other spectators, it appears that Time Attack events are starting to catch on and will undoubtedly prove to be a success.
Any driver off the street can register and qualify with some very basic requirements. I know I'd love to build my car up and compete in this event, and so should you. Check out all the pictures to see how cool the cars were and how much fun the event can be.
