DUB Auto Show

I’m sure many of you have heard of DUB magazine, but did you know that DUB has extended beyond just a magazine to position itself as an off the hook lifestyle and events company? Unlike other car shows I’ve been to, the DUB guys bring it all together – style, power and bling -- in one amazing package.
This past Sunday I traveled down to San Diego, CA for the final DUB Show of 2006. Since this was my first appearance at a DUB Show, I had no idea what I was in for, though I anticipated a tasty auto treat. Needless to say, my expectations were matched and exceeded all the way. I saw wheels in the 26 to 30 inch range, big enough to roll right over your momma AND her car without missing a beat. I was hoping to see a set of 32 or 34 inch wheels like I saw in the Lexani booth at SEMA, but they don’t even make tires yet for a fat set of rims like that!
My main objective at the show was to take photos of all the sick, hip and dope cars, but there was so much more going on than just rims, panels and paintjobs. With big names like Exhibit and Paul Wall performing throughout the day, the guys at DUB were raising the roof for the event, and spectators were sure to see hip hop stars and celebrities no matter when they rolled up to the event.
But I have to tell you about some of the craziest things I spotted. I don’t know what some of these auto guys were smoking when coming up with their designs, but it must have been interplanetary, cuz the modifications were out of this world. There were doors that went beyond suicide and into reverse 270-degree full-on nuclear attack mode! I even saw reverse batwing doors on a Toyota Supra . . . like, WTF?
There were wheels, engine bays and interiors clad in exotic animal skins, plus trucks with plasma televisions mounted in the tailgate and rides that had more TV monitors stuffed inside than your local BestBuy right before Christmas.
Pretty much every car at the show was over the top and off the chain. No two cars looked alike, and that’s what made this car show spectacular – while Ferraris and Bentleys are classic, the DUB Show is all about cool, and it was Ice Ice, Baby all day long.
Check out the photos to see the latest trends, and grab yourself some of these hot ideas piping fresh out of Cali. You’ll be the hippest cat cruising through the hood . . . until the next DUB Show rolls around, that is.
Enjoy!
